Hi there, I'm Darrell

I love photography. I love life. I’m from southeastern Kentucky and call the mountains of Appalachia home.

I photograph weddings, portraits and fine art across Kentucky and beyond.

After nearly leaving this world, I have grown to appreciate life and I’ve decided to put my heart and soul into my passion for photography.

In 2018, I had post operation complications following knee surgery; I formed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) (blood clots) which resulted in a Pulmonary Embolism (PE - the blood clots broke loose and traveled through my bloodstream to my lungs). My doctors told me I was lucky to be alive, it just wasn’t my time, and I hadn’t yet accomplished everything I was supposed to. Through my journey, I’ve discovered that all the moments are truly. . . God Given.

I’d like to be remembered as someone whose creative vision brought joy and hope to others. I’m thankful for the people who chose me to share their joy. My goal is to create images that will live in your family heirloom for years to come.

If you’ve had a connection with my story or my work, we just may be a good match. Send me a message. Let’s do this!

Biography

Since childhood, Darrell has had a deep passion, love and desire to create art. Growing up, his life revolved around school, art and faith. During elementary school Darrell won several awards in art shows, and contests. He even won his first bicycle in a local community coloring contest. Early on he knew his destiny was to become an artist.

Darrell's faith has served as the catalyst for developing his character, both in life and in art. As a Christian, he believes a calling or an invitation from God can be placed upon someone’s life to pursue different opportunities. Hence, he believes people are uniquely designed and blessed with certain gifts, talents, and abilities that allow them to fulfill their purpose. Ultimately, his faith has driven him to ask the question, “How can I use my God-given gifts and talents to serve others?”

Motivated by his passion and faith, Darrell chose to pursue his calling, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Kentucky University. Since then, he has had the opportunity of becoming an award-winning artist whose work has been published in a number of publications including the Boston Globe, the Lexington Herald-Leader, The Progress, The Underground Press, and the London Sentinel Echo. His work has also been published in a number of different magazines, displayed in art shows, and exhibited in galleries across the state of Kentucky.

Together, Darrell and his lovely wife, Stephanie have developed, Lovitt Studios. With his artistic eye and Stephanie’s creative ideas, they have been able to connect with couples, and families on an emotional level. Their goal is to provide each and every client with ‘moments’ that are truly, inspirational. While letting God hold their dreams in his hands, their art has become a continuously rewarding ministry. They continue to give their talents to support ministries delivering messages of faith, hope, and love across the world.

For the Lovitt's, it’s not only a passion to document memories but it’s also a privilege to capture special moments that change lives forever. Darrell and Stephanie's continual prayer is that God will use their art to bless the lives of people.
